I dreamed of being an Olympic Champion from the time I was just 8 years old. I lived and breathed my sport and tried desperately to learn everything I could. I longed to be a fly on the wall at my sports heroes' training just to see what they did and how they did it. I wanted to know just what I would have to do to make my Olympic dream a reality like theirs.

During my quest to make it to the top, I learned many valuable lessons. Now having had the opportunity to stand on top of that podium at National, World and Olympic competitions, I have an entirely new perspective but also remember and cherish the road I took to get there. I have also met and heard the stories of athletes from many different sports that have achieved the pinnacle of their sport as well. One of the most important lessons I have discovered is this:

There is no A + B = C.

Many people will tout perfect equations to get to the top, but when you talk to the people who have actually done it, they all have a different story. Every athlete, every sport, every coach, every journey is different. While there are many similarities, there are also brilliant, unique ideas that lead to success. So, I want to give you the most powerful tool you can have in your belt to equip you for your own success:

The experience of those who have succeeded.
